Latitude Consulting Group Articulates Wireless Advantages in Automotive Industry
NEW YORK, July 6 -- Latitude Consulting Group, Inc., an e- business consultancy, will have one of their automotive demand chain solution's experts speak at the third annual M>Business 2004 Conference. M>Business 2004: Uncovering the Next Waves-Major Opportunities and Essential Lessons is a two-day conference, hosted by The Institute for Technology and Enterprise (ITE), Polytechnic University, New York City and will be held July 12-13, 2004 at the Roosevelt Hotel in New York City.
This conference will focus on a wide range of Wireless/Mobile Business subjects, and fuses research, education and advanced industry practices. Mark Place, senior consultant and founding principal of Latitude Consulting Group, Inc., will be discussing the impact of radio frequency ID (RFID) tags on automotive supply chain management. His presentation will cover the challenges faced by original equipment manufacturers in the auto industry, how wireless applications are currently used for tactical advantages, and the future impact of wireless technologies.
OEMs currently use RFID tags in assembly, yard and warehouse, and maintenance operations. In the auto industry, these operations are complex processes involving many parts (25,000 parts in a single vehicle). RFID applications promise to reduce costs and increase operational responsiveness by tracking parts throughout a product's lifecycle and providing a more mobile maintenance and operation workforce with instant access to information.
"Wireless solutions are beginning to push information transparency deeper into the manufacturing process," said Mark Place. "The use of RFID tags enables leaner manufacturing by providing real-time information to operational functions beyond product assembly."
Place is responsible for analyzing business needs, developing project requirements and design specifications, and ultimately solving his client's business challenges. Prior to joining Latitude, Place was a founder of Computer Support Technologies where he conceived, designed, and developed an award-winning technical support system combining Internet and artificial intelligence technologies.
