Cummins Westport Receives Order for 52 Engines for Santa Monica's Big Blue Bus
VANCOUVER, British Columbia--July 6, 2004--Cummins Westport Inc. (CWI) (TSX:WPT) today announced its C Gas Plus engine has been selected by Big Blue Bus, the transit operator in Santa Monica, California, for an order of 52 buses.The CWI natural gas engines will be installed in 40-foot, low-floor buses manufactured by New Flyer for delivery late this year. The order also includes an option for an additional 20 units.
Santa Monica's Big Blue Bus is working to create a "cleaner, healthier, more livable place" by investing in low-emissions buses and other energy-saving equipment. After delivery of this order, Big Blue Bus will have more than 48% of its fleet operating on lower-emissions fuels such as natural gas.
