ARCA Truck Results Lawrenceburg, Guinn Wins
ARCA Trucker Guinn is Great on Lawrenceburg Dirt
LAWRENCEBURG IN (7-3-04) Two-time and defending series champion Chad Guinn is becoming the Frank Kimmel of the ARCA Lincoln Welders Truck Series. The Erie, Michigan driver, in his father Larry Guinn's BFI-M&M Heating-Harwood Buick/Pontiac Chevy S-10, won the Pate Manufacturing 100 Saturday night at Lawrenceburg Speedway.
It was Guinn's 21st career win in his 61st series start representing victories in one-third of the total races he has competed in.
After a spirited side-by-side battle with rookie Brett Rowe, Guinn secured the lead for good less than 20 laps from the finish, and then held off the pack.
Rowe, in his own unsponsored Chevy S-10, kept the pressure on the eventual winner but could not erase the two-length gap that held through the checkered flag.
Rowe finished second with Mark Otting, in the Westfalia Surge-Posilac-Uckele Health Nutrition Chevy, finishing third, a career-best for the Plainwell, Michigan driver. Otting's finish was even more impressive considering his crew changed a broken spindle in the pits during a lengthy caution thereby keeping Otting on the lead lap and in contention.
Brian Rowe, in the Pate Manufacturing Chevy, finished fourth in front of Bill Withers, who steered the Mannings USA-Hall Electronics Ford to the finish in fifth.
John Kasmierski won the Pork Pole award, led nine laps and was a victory lane contender before a broken spindle ended his impressive ride well shy of the finish.
At the onset, rookie Tim Burkett led the first two laps before Brett Rowe took over the top spot. Rowe held the point for several circuits before Kasmierski, who started eighth based on the inversion, charged into the lead.
But with Kasmierski soon out of the mix, Brett Rowe regained control of the lead before Guinn, working the high line against Rowe's low corner entry, made the winning pass.
Rookie Donnie Porter finished sixth ahead of Rick Knowles in seventh. Series veteran Gregg Vasko finished eighth with rookie Duane Bischoff trailing in ninth. Danny Basham completed the top-10 finishers.
Vasko also picked up the Ed & Company Hard Charger award while Brett Rowe won the Cloyes Gear Halfway Lap Leader honors. Rowe was also the Highest Finishing Rookie.
Next event for the ARCA Lincoln Welders Truck Series will be the Lincoln Electric 100 at Tri-City Motor Speedway in Auburn, Michigan on Thursday night, July 22.
