                                                               For Immediate Release

             Franchitti Qualifies ArcaEx Car Ninth For Kansas Event;
Will Start From Back Of Field After Precautionary Move

KANSAS CITY, Kansas (July 3, 2004) - ArcaEx driver Dario Franchitti
recorded a lap of 208.646 miles per hour in qualifying this afternoon at Kansas
Speedway, earning him the ninth starting position for Sunday afternoon's running of
the Argent Mortgage Kansas Indy 300.
However, the team made a precautionary engine change following the
qualifying session which, by IRL IndyCar Series rules, moves Franchitti to the back of
the 21-car starting field. The #27 ArcaEx Dallara/Honda/Firestone had been among
the fastest group of cars during the two morning practice sessions, but had a slight
drop in speed during the qualifying run, which led to the decision.
Honda-powered machines took the top three positions for Sunday's event as
Buddy Rice won the pole with a speed of 210.141 miles per hour, Kanaan was
second (209.681) and Vitor Meira (209.342) earned the third starting spot.
The Argent Mortgage Kansas Indy 300, round seven of the 2004 IRL IndyCar
Series, is set to begin at 12:45 p.m. (EDT) Sunday. ABC Sports will air the 200-lap
event live with coverage beginning at 12:30 p.m. (EDT).

Dario Franchitti, #27 ArcaEx Dallara/Honda/Firestone:
"We were more than a mile an hour shy of the pole and we don't know why, so
that's frustrating. As a team, we try to do what we can to help our teammates, but we
also have to do what we can to make our own car as fast as possible. I do think we
have a strong race car. It felt good during this morning's practice sessions and we'll
continue to work on it tomorrow."

Kyle Moyer, General Manager, Andretti Green Racing:
"The ArcaEx car ran pretty good this morning and ran good this afternoon. The
only shame is that we're going to change motors; it's a precautionary motor change,
just to be on the safe side. We saw something we weren't comfortable with, so now
we're going to have to start last. Starting in the back means Dario has his work cut
out for him, but Dan (Wheldon) showed last week you can win from back there."
