XM Satellite Radio Driver Bryan Herta
                                Will Start Tenth at Kansas

Kansas City, Kansas (July 3, 2004) - XM Satellite Radio driver Bryan Herta
earned the 10th starting position for tomorrow's Indy Racing League® IndyCar® Series
Argent Mortgage Kansas Indy 300 with a lap of 208.210 miles per hour around the
1.5-mile Kansas Speedway.
Herta, the defending champion at Kansas, began this morning where he left
off last year by leading all drivers in practice.  The XM Satellite Radio crew was
confident heading into qualifying, but they were unable to find any more speed as
the weather conditions changed dramatically.  A heavy layer of clouds broke by the
time the cars went out to qualify, drastically changing the temperature of the track.
Last year, Herta started in the 11th position and went on to win.
Buddy Rice won his third pole of the year with a speed of 210.141 miles per
hour.  Rice edged out Herta's Andretti Green teammate, Tony Kanaan, who will start
on the outside of the front row after posting a speed 209.681 miles per hour.  Vitor
Meira, who posted his season-best finish of second last week at Richmond, will start
third with a speed of 209.342 miles per hour.
The Argent Mortgage Kansas Indy 300, Round 7 of the IndyCar Series
schedule, will start tomorrow at 12:45 p.m. (EDT).  ABC Sports will air the 200-lap
event live with coverage beginning at 12:30 p.m. (EDT).

Bryan Herta, Driver, #7 XM Satellite Radio Dallara/Honda/Firestone
"We needed to go a little faster.  We're going to have to look at the data
because I thought we had a little more speed in the XM Satellite Radio car.  That's
the deal with qualifying, sometimes you just don't know when you go out what you're
going to run.  The race setup is a lot different from our qualifying one, so I think we
will be in good shape to defend our win tomorrow."

George Klotz, Team Manager, #7 XM Satellite Radio Dallara/Honda/Firestone
"We're a little disappointed with our run.  We ran very fast in practice, but we
weren't able to pick up as much as everybody else during qualifying.  The
XM Satellite Radio car looks to have a really good race setup, so I think you'll see
Bryan move up to the front."
