Joey Scarallo Qualifies 10th for Trans-Am on the Tarmac

JOEY SCARALLO QUALIFIES 10th FOR TRANS-AM ON THE TARMAC

CLEVELAND (July 1, 2004) ­ Joey Scarallo, driver of the No. 06 ROH
Wheels/Group A Autotrend/Toyo Tires Chevrolet Corvette, qualified 10th for
tomorrowıs Trans-Am on the Tarmac at Clevelandıs Burke Lakefront airport.
Scarallo, who missed first-round practice due to a mechanical problem,
recorded a 1:17.052 minute-lap at an average speed of 98.396 miles per hour.

³We were behind in qualifying since we missed first practice due to a
cracked exhaust pipe,² said Scarallo. ³I was struggling a bit trying to get
a better feel for the track as it relates to my car.²

³We will be chasing the carıs set up right up to second round practice in
the morning,² said Scarallo. ³Baucom Motorsports is making the necessary
changes and we should be quicker in the morning.²

Scarallo teamed with Baucom Motorsports this year. The Baucoms also field
the No. 86 Ford Mustang driven by owner-driver John Baucom. The Baucom squad
is preparing Scaralloıs car for the 2004 season.

Scarallo is looking forward to second round practice.

³Weıll be OK. Iıll pass some cars and move up in second-round practice,²
said Scarallo. 

A longtime racer, Scarallo has been in the driverıs seat since he was 11,
racing karts in the Long Island Karting Association, where he won three
championships in 1993.

Scarallo also won championships in the International Karting Federation in
1996, and he recorded three top-ten finishes in the U.S. F2000 where he
finished 14th in series points. He ran a limited schedule in 1997, scoring
11th- and 12th-place finishes in his three starts. Scarallo competed in the
Toyota Atlantic Series in 2000.

The oldest of four siblings, Scarallo, 25, lives in Smithtown, N.Y. Scarallo
manages Autotrend Tire and Wheel Company Inc., his familyıs wheel importing
business in Lindenhurst, N.Y. Scarallo will participate in second round
practice for Trans-Am on the Tarmac at 11:30am EDT at Burke Lakefront
Airport in Cleveland, Ohio.
