- Chrysler Group Posts Five Percent Month-Over-Month Sales Increase for June 2004 - Mercedes-Benz USA Reports Sales of 17,484 Vehicles, Up Two Percent

NEW YORK, July 1 -- DaimlerChrysler AG , releasing sales information in advance of detailed information to be announced by Chrysler Group and Mercedes-Benz USA (MBUSA), today reported sales of 226,736 passenger vehicles in the U.S. in June 2004, up five percent compared to June 2003. All sales figures in this release are reported on an unadjusted basis.

Chrysler Group, which consists of the Chrysler, Jeep(R) and Dodge brands, posted sales of 209,252 vehicles in the U.S., an increase of five percent. Year-to-date sales at Chrysler Group are up three percent compared to the same period in 2003. The Chrysler Group now has seven new models in production for 2004, including the 2005 Chrysler 300 and 2005 Dodge Magnum. Two more new models will arrive at dealerships before the end of the year: the Dodge Dakota and the new Jeep(R) Grand Cherokee.

MBUSA, which will launch its biggest product offensive in its history over the next two years, posted sales of 17,484 units, an increase of two percent compared to the same month last year. Year-to-date sales for MBUSA are 103,168 vehicles compared to 105,888 during the same period last year.

Detailed vehicle sales information for MBUSA and Chrysler Group will be announced later today in separate press releases issued by the groups. June 2004 had 25 selling days compared to 24 in June of the previous year.
