Delco Remy Mexico (DRM) Recertifies to the ISO 14001 Standard
ANDERSON, Ind., July 1 -- Successful ISO 14001 environmental management system (EMS) maintenance audits were recently completed at two of Delco Remy International's facilities in San Luis Potosi, Mexico, a new Delco Remy Mexico (DRM) starter motor facility and the Remy Compenentes facility. ISO 14001 is an internationally accepted standard that defines the requirements for establishing and operating an EMS.
DRM received their initial ISO 14001 certification for the starter motors and fabrication plants in February 2002. Additionally, in November 2003 DRM's alternators plant received ISO 14001 certification.
DQS Deutsche Gesellschaft zur Zertifizierung von Managementsystemen mbH, an independent, certified environmental registrar, has verified that the EMS at Delco Remy's operations in Mexico meet the ISO 14001 requirements, which include systematic processes are in place to control impacts on the environment (e.g. pollution prevention) and continually improve operations.
