NCMS Director Honored by the Engineering Society of Detroit

Dr. Manish Mehta elected to the ESD College of Fellows

ANN ARBOR, Mich., July 1 -- Dr. Manish Mehta, Director of Collaborative Programs, at the National Center for Manufacturing Sciences (NCMS) has been elected to the Engineering Society of Detroit (ESD) College of Fellows. ESD College of Fellow status represents the highest grade of membership in the society. The Fellows level of membership is one of unusual distinction and is conferred only by invitation of the ESD Board of Directors. Fellow members have extraordinary qualifications and experience in their respective professions.

Dr. Mehta is being honored for his engineering achievements and his efforts to promote the advancement of engineering science & education among the youth. He is also involved in a variety of community activities with the Washtenaw County Chapter of the American Red Cross and has led international humanitarian grant projects through the local rotary club.

Dr. Mehta's NCMS responsibilities include identifying new manufacturing technology needs and developing sponsored collaborative research and development projects. He leads NCMS' strategic program development initiatives for several new technologies in net shape manufacturing, nanomanufacturing, alternative energy systems and biomedical technologies. Dr. Mehta is also the Executive Director of Technologies Research Corporation, a wholly-owned subsidiary of NCMS, which provides world-class technology assessments and consortium management services to private clients.

Dr. Mehta was inducted into the ESD College of Fellows at the Society's Annual Awards Celebration, on Tuesday, June 29, 2004, at the Northfield Hilton, Troy, MI.
