WALZ APPOINTED AUTOGLASS EDITOR
WASHINGTON, DC, JUNE 30, 2004 – “Christopher D. Walz loves cars and brings to AutoGlass magazine the same passion that its readers devote to their work in replacing and repairing windshields,” says Nicole Harris, publisher of the National Glass Association’s publications AutoGlass, Window & Door and Glass Magazine, in announcing the appointment of Christopher D. Walz as editor of AutoGlass.
More than 12,500 auto-glass retail shop owners, installation technicians, distributors and suppliers subscribe to AutoGlass, a four-color seven-times-a-year trade publication providing in-depth reporting on the automotive glass replacement and repair market.
Walz assumes the position after serving as a civilian reporter and photojournalist for The Pentagram, the U.S. Army’s community newspaper in the Military District of Washington, DC, including Forts Myers and McNair, Arlington National Cemetery, the Department of Defense, Walter Reed Army Medical Hospital and the Washington, DC, National Guard. In this position, he also had responsibility for editing and newspaper production. Walz is the youngest to receive an individual journalism award from the Army’s Office of the Chief of Public Affairs. Previously, he wrote about sports for The Daily Times in Salisbury, MD. In December 2000, Walz graduated from Maryland’s Salisbury State University with a bachelor of arts degree in communication.
“As auto-glass technology grows more sophisticated, news coverage must keep pace. Chris brings well-honed journalism skills that will extend the reach and depth of our reporting,” says Nancy M. Davis, editor in chief of AutoGlass and Glass Magazine.
Walz succeeds longtime AutoGlass Editor Charles Cumpston, who now serves as editor emeritus of Glass Magazine and AutoGlass.
Founded in 1948, the National Glass Association (NGA) is the largest trade association representing the entire flat glass industry. NGA also hosts the industry's premier annual trade events: the National Auto Glass Conference & EXPO and GlassBuild America: The Glass, Window & Door Expo.
