New XPower Charger and Jumpcharger products deliver up to three times faster charging

VANCOUVER, June 30 -- A weak vehicle battery can strand you at what always seems like the worst time and place. Xantrex Technology Inc. is introducing a new line of XPower Rapid Charge(TM) Chargers and Jumpchargers that reconditions dead batteries and provide faster jumpstarts to vehicles.

The new XPower line's superior Rapid Charge technology delivers up to three times faster charging than traditional low frequency chargers, which currently dominate the market. Unlike most chargers, the XPower Charger also features an intelligent diagnostic tool for quick battery load check and troubleshooting. Its micro-processor ensures controlled battery charging and a longer battery life. The XPower Jumpcharger also includes a built-in battery that enables consumers to jumpstart a vehicle on the road.

"Many drivers want the security of being prepared for inconvenient battery failure and with our portable Jumpcharger, you'll never have to worry about flagging down another motorist to boost your car," said George Hriscu, Product Marketing Manager. "More than half the driving population has been frustrated by a dead vehicle battery at one time or another so our Jump Charger is a practical tool to keep handy for jumpstarting cars, recreational vehicles, and motorcycles."

Xantrex's new charging technology has made it possible to reliably determine the condition of a battery in a few minutes without having to go to an automotive service facility. A convenient battery reconditioning function reactivates flooded lead-acid batteries and allows motorists to recharge their vehicle batteries overnight. The reconditioning feature can extend the life of a battery for up to three months.

XPower Chargers are available in 2, 15 and 40 amp models to charge a range of battery sizes in small recreational crafts and cars, to larger SUVs and RVs. They also offer several protection features including short circuit protection and over-charge protection.

XPower Jump Chargers combine a battery charger with engine jumpstarter and are available in 15 and 40 amp models. The 15 amp Jump Charger will recharge the battery of all six-cylinder cars and recreational vehicles including ATVs, snowmobiles, motorcycles, compact cars, and most minivans and SUVs. The 40 amp unit is ideal for recharging minivan, SUV, RV, and boat batteries. Both Jumpcharger models jumpstart all types of lead acid 12 volt batteries.

XPower Jump Chargers and Battery Chargers are innovatively designed and packaged in a compact case with the cables stored inside the units, making them easy to store or carry anywhere. They also contain an easy-to-read LED display for monitoring charging parameters. Both product lines meet Canadian and U.S. safety approvals and include a one-year warranty.

The Jumpchargers and Battery Chargers have suggested list prices starting from US$129.99 and US$29.99, respectively. They are available now through the Xantrex e-store at www.xantrex.com and next month will be on sale at select automotive retail stores.

Xantrex is a market leader in portable power products. In the past two years, Xantrex has introduced more than 20 new consumer XPower products in the portable power category, including XPower Inverter 75, XPower Inverter 700 Plus, XPower Powerpack 400 Plus, and most recently, the XPower Inverter 175 Plus. XPower Jumpchargers and Battery Chargers represent the company's latest consumer product offering in the charger market, estimated at US$130 million per year.
