NISMO/TeamRTR Nissan Sentra Record Another Podium Finish in SCCA SPEED World Challenge Touring Car Mid-Ohio Event

LEXINGTON, Ohio--June 29, 2004--One year ago at the SCCA SPEED World Challenge Tour Car event at the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course, NISMO/TeamRTR driver Peter Cunningham put on a driving clinic, charging from last in the field, due to a first lap tangle, to finish fifth. This year, his drive at the third stop in the 10-race series was slightly less dramatic, though his third place finish was better.

Cunningham's second consecutive podium finish is a credit to both Cunningham's experience and the performance of his silver, red and black 250-plus horsepower #4 Nissan Sentra SE-R, which is ideally suited to tracks like Mid-Ohio. Cunningham started the race from 3rd position. He dropped to 4th at the start of the race, but Cunningham again fascinated spectators with his battle back, including his posting of the 2nd fastest lap out of 34 drivers in the field. Cunningham regained 3rd place when he passed the series point leader on lap 23, and kept the position to the finish, just 3.47 seconds behind the winner. Since there were no full course cautions during the 50 minute race, the top 3 cars were able to pull away from the rest of the field. The next race will be held at the Infineon Raceway in Sonoma, California, July 17-18.
