Ford 'Year of the Car' Tour Rolls Into Kansas City

WHAT: Ford showcases three outstanding and diverse examples of its new "Year of the Car" products on the Kansas City stop of its summer tour -- the Ford Mustang, the Ford Five Hundred and the Ford Freestyle.

  WHEN:  Thursday, July 1

  WHO/WHERE:

* 11:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. - Ben Poore, Ford Division car group marketing manager, will host a media lunch at the Plaza III Steakhouse, 4749 Pennsylvania Ave., Kansas City, MO. Poore will provide walkarounds on the three cars, and will be available for interviews. Please RSVP to Monte Doran for reservations.

* 3 p.m.-4 p.m. - Carl Edwards, who races a Ford F-150 in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series, will take the 2005 Mustang on parade laps at the Kansas Speedway, 400 Speedway Blvd., Kansas City, KS. Over 40 local Mustang enthusiasts are expected to join the parade laps with their beloved classics, bringing 40 years of Mustang history to life.

SUMMARY: Ford is celebrating Mustang's 40th anniversary with a back-to- the-future design of the 2005 model. It's one of 40 new products the company will launch this fall, designated by Ford as "The Year of the Car." The range of these new products is illustrated by the sporty Pony car legend, the all- new flagship Five Hundred sedan, and the Freestyle that bridges the gap between traditional sport-utilities vehicles and passenger cars.
