Colorado Vintage Race is Scheduled For August 15

Popular Race Will Be Closing Event of 2004 Grand Prix of Denver

DENVER, June 29 -- Today, The CENTRIX Financial Grand Prix of Denver announced the return of the Colorado Vintage Race. As the closing event for the Grand Prix weekend, the Colorado Vintage Race will take place from 4:30 pm to 5:15 pm on Sunday, August 15 on the Grand Prix racetrack.

Porsches, BMWs, Corvettes, Mustangs, Shelbys and Austin Minis are just a few examples of the cars participating in this year's race. Thirty-six vintage foreign and domestic cars, from the 1950s 60s and 70s, are participating in the race.

Nostalgia Racing and Rocky Mountain Vintage Racing car clubs have combined efforts to produce the Colorado Vintage Race. As the sanctioning bodies for the race, these two clubs will select drivers and cars based on club participation, car presentation, street racing experience and driver ability.

"The Vintage Race was a crowd favorite during our 2002 inaugural event and we are very pleased to host it again. We have worked with the vintage clubs for months to put this race in place. It will be a proud moment to see our local drivers take the Grand Prix track once again," said the Grand Prix of Denver General Manager, John Frew.

The presidents from both car clubs will be present at the race. Jimmy Aretakis is the president of Nostalgia Racing and the chair for the 2004 Vintage Race. Norm Petitt is the president of Rocky Mountain Vintage Racing. The Colorado Vintage Race will take place on the nine-turn, 1.65-mile temp street course located at the Pepsi Center.

The CENTRIX Financial Grand Prix of Denver is set for August 13 through August 15. Tickets can be purchased at the Pepsi Center box office, at Ticket Master outlets or online at www.gpdenver.com or www.ticketmaster.com.
