Terry Borcheller - Mid-Ohio race

two for two

Terry Borcheller earned his second American Le Mans Series podium position in
as many starts this season, with a third-place GTS finish at Mid-Ohio Sports
Car Course in Lexington, Ohio. Borcheller, of Gainesville, Ga., and Johnny
Mowlem of Maidenhead, England, both drove strong stints in the No. 63 ACEMCO
Motorsports Saleen S7R to reach the podium.

Borcheller qualified third on the GTS grid with a time of one minute 19.685
seconds on the 2.25-mile road course. He started the race and held third place
through his stint. Mowlem took over at 1h4, and returned to the track in
fourth place. He lost the hood of the car an hour later, but still managed to
regain third place just three minutes before the end of the two-hour 45-minute race.

"Competing with the [race-winning] Corvettes at this level of racing is
tough," Borcheller said. "We've done a lot of testing and we're not where we need
to be, but we've made a lot of progress. The schedule is going to get really
hectic, so if we can come out of here with a podium, it's a great start."

chassis change

Borcheller switched to an open-wheel chassis for a Star Mazda Series race at
Mid-Ohio on June 26. The car is owned by Forest Barber of Fort Worth, Texas,
Borcheller's co-driver in the Rolex Sports Car Series. Borcheller qualified the
No. 48 Pro Formula Mazda 18th on the 41-car grid, worked through the field to
ninth, then spun and dropped back to finish 13th.

"It was a blast!," he reported. "Getting back in an open-wheel car was a lot
of fun. I'm very thankful to Forest for letting me do it. It was a great
opportunity for my sponsors K&N Performance Filters and Bondurant because they were
both on the car. I had a great start and a really good race, except for the
spin. It was a lot of fun."

The Star Mazda race will be telecast on Speed Channel on Sunday, July 11 at
noon ET.

next

Borcheller will compete in two races in five days. He will drive the No. 54
Bell Motorsports Doran JE4 in the Rolex Sports Car Series race at Daytona
International Speedway on July 1, then race to Lime Rock Park in Lakeville, Conn.,
for an American Le Mans Series race on July 5. He will again contest the GTS
class in the No. 63 ACEMCO Motorsports Saleen S7R.
