In only their third race, this was the new team’s best finish to date. “Man, there were lots of parts flying out there,” grinned Hayner after the race. “The car is really starting to show signs of being competitive. Rob Wanamaker [Crew Chief] and the guys have really done a fantastic job. They never say quit. We’re going to make a few changes before we head out west to Infineon and Portland... so the crew will be right back at it tomorrow morning. I think it’s a 5-day turnaround and they’re back on the road. Developing a new car and a new program is a much tougher job than people realize.
