Korean Cars Capture 24 Pct of Chinese Market in January-May Period

SHANGHAI, June 26, 2004 (Yonhap) South Korean cars accounted for nearly a quarter of the vehicles imported by China in the first five months of this year, the customs office here said Saturday.

The customs agency said 16,968 of the 77,863 vehicles imported from January through May, or 24 percent, were from South Korea, an year-on-year increase of 7.5 percent. The figures mean that South Korea ranked third after Japan and Germany in China's vehicle import market.
