POINT LEADER RAHMER GETS FIRST OF SEASON AT SSP

NEWBERRYTOWN, PA (June 24, 2004) – Fast Freddy Rahmer has been leading the
Sprint Car point standings at Susquehanna Speedway Park for much of the
season, but it wasn’t until Thursday evening that he got his first win there this
year. In other action, Curt Nichols also claimed his first Xtreme Enduro
Stock event, and Jason Goodling took the $1000 to win Demolition Derby.
In the 25 lap Sprint Car feature event, polesitter Cory Haas led the first
lap before being overtaken by Kevin Nouse on lap two. Meanwhile Rahmer was
working his way forward from the 11th starting spot. Nouse held sway through a
red flag on lap eight when Chad Trout flipped his racer and collected the
top five cars of Haas, Brian Leppo and Greg Hodnett. At the time Rahmer had
just taken second spot from Leppo. On the restart, Rahmer raced alongside
Nouse for a full lap and a half before taking command on lap ten. From that point
on it was all Rahmer as he raced to his first SSP win of the season, and
19th career. The win was worth $2500.
Lance Dewease moved from the 12th starting spot to claim second with Donnie
Kreitz Jr. getting third after starting 10th. Hodnett raced back from the
eighth lap tangle for fourth, with Jim Siegel completing the top five.
Rounding out the top ten were Nouse, Billy Dietrich, Eric Stambaugh, Karl Baker,
and Chad Jumper. Heat wins went to Hodnett, Kreitz and Peter Attard.
Nichols chased down early leader David Wilhelm on the 11th of 20 laps to win
the Xtreme Enduro feature event. Nichols, Wilhelm and third place finisher
Mike Goodwin raced under a blanket for the final ten laps of the event.
Charlie Pensinger and Matt Smith completed the top five. Heats went to Wilhelm
and Goodwin, with Tom Johns taking the Pepsi Dash.
Goodling outlasted Davey Snelbaker to win the 16 car Demo Derby that ended
the evening. Goodling also won the Spectator Street Drags at SSP earlier this
season.
The next race will be Thursday Night, July 1 as SSP hosts its first
$1000-to-win 410 Sprint Car Wheelie Contest presented by the Beer Hill Gang in
conjunction with the fifth event of the Pennsylvania Speedweeks. Fans will also
