Sunoco Ron Fellows Karting Championship Presented by Toronto Star Wheels
ready to hit the streets of Barrie this weekend
Annual street race marks mid point of the 2004 season
BARRIE, ONTARIO - The stars of the Sunoco Ron Fellows Karting Championship
presented by Toronto Star Wheels will be the headline attraction at this
weekend's Winning Colours Grand Prix of Barrie. The Barrie race also marks
the mid point of the 2004 season, but few, if any drivers will have that on
their minds as they head into this weekend.
"If there is one event everyone wants to win, it's this one," Tyler
Givogue, a front runner in the headline Formula Senior class said. Givogue
is not alone when it comes to wanting to win, in fact, in the past, some of
the most competitive racing that the series has seen has taken place on the
streets of Barrie. Five or six kart 'trains' all dicing for the lead are a
common sight when the series hits the streets of Barrie.
Part of the reason why every driver and team wants to have a good weekend
is the number of spectators that take in the action packed three days of
racing. There is the potential for over 20,000 spectators this weekend, and
they will witness the best karters that Canada has to offer. There are also
many Barrie area drivers that will be looking to do well in front of their
hometown fans.
Practice for all classes is on Friday, with five of the ten classes racing
on Saturday, the other five will race on Sunday.
On each race day, practice and qualifying happens in the morning, and the
finals should get under way at 2 p.m. Like all Sunoco Ron Fellows Karting
Championship Presented by Toronto Star Wheels races, there is no admission
charge for spectators to watch the races.
