Test-Drive the Advanced Fuel Technologies of Today and
Tomorrow
WHAT: As part of its ongoing commitment to delivering advanced vehicle
technologies to the U.S. marketplace, the Alliance of Automobile
Manufacturers is hosting a ride and drive for Members of Congress,
policymakers and media.
Test-drive the advanced vehicles that are hitting the roads today,
and get a sneak preview of the exciting technologies of tomorrow.
Hybrid, fuel cell, clean diesel and hydrogen-powered cars and
light trucks will be on hand, including the Ford Escape Hybrid --
the first hybrid SUV to hit the showroom -- and the new Chevrolet
Silverado Hybrid pick-up.
WHY: Advanced fuel technology vehicles offer hope and promise for the
future. Today's vehicles run 99 percent cleaner than their
counterparts from the 1970s. And technological advances have
resulted in vehicles that offer unprecedented fuel economy while
reducing reliance on oil as a primary fuel source.
Automakers remain committed to their promise of creating exciting
automobiles that are cleaner, safer, smarter, more reliable and
more fuel-efficient. Congress can help get these advanced
vehicles on the road more quickly -- and in greater volumes -- by
providing consumer tax incentives.
