Milwaukee Mile Feels Like Home to Stremme
West Allis, WI (June 23, 2004) – TRIMSPA driver David Stremme will travel to
Wisconsin a day early this week in order to spend a little extra time in his
old stomping grounds. Before moving to North Carolina in 2003 to begin
racing in the Busch Series, Stremme lived in Milwaukee while racing the ASA
circuit.
“Milwaukee was just a cool place to live,” said Stremme, driver of the
TRIMSPA X32 Dodge. “I have a lot of friends I made in that area while I was
driving ASA. That was an exciting time in my racing career and I have a lot of
good memories from it.”
Despite having lived nearby, Stremme has only raced once at The Milwaukee
Mile, finishing third last season in the Phoenix Racing Dodge, matching his
career best Busch finish.
“A top finish at The Milwaukee Mile would be real special because of its
location,” said Stremme, the 2002 ASA Rookie of the Year. “Lots of my family is
making the trip from South Bend (IN) just for this race. I didn’t grow up in
Milwaukee, but it feels like a hometown crowd.”
Crew chief Randy Cox will bring chassis BR018 to the track this weekend.
Stremme drove the same TRIMSPA X32 Dodge to an eighth-place finish at Gateway
Raceway earlier this season. A strong car and a career best run for Stremme at
Milwaukee last season have Team TRIMSPA optimistic about their chances this
weekend.
“Milwaukee is a very flat track which takes the emphasis off the aero and
motor packages of these cars,” said crew chief Randy Cox. “Handling through
the turns is extremely important because there is not a lot of grip. I like our
chances in this race because of the confidence we have in our driver.”
Team TRIMSPA will hit the track this Saturday for the Alan Kulwicki 250
Busch Series race at the Milwaukee Mile. The event will be televised live
Saturday, June 26th at 9:00 p.m. eastern time on FX and will broadcast nationally at
that same time on radio stations affiliated with Motor Racing Network (MRN)
and XM Satellite Radio Channel 144.
