Tommy Shi Appointed Corporate Development and Transformation Officer for Mercedes-Benz USA
MONTVALE, N.J., June 22 -- Mercedes-Benz USA (MBUSA) announced the appointment of Tommy Shi to corporate development and transformation officer at the company's Montvale headquarters, effective immediately. Shi replaces Joe Johnson, who has been promoted to Maybach Sales Operations Manager for MBUSA.
In this capacity, Shi will be responsible for providing the strategic direction, development and implementation of the company-wide cultural transformation and diversity strategy. This broad-based responsibility embraces related human resources, retail network, purchasing, training and marketing activities at MBUSA. Shi will report to Paul Halata, president and CEO for MBUSA.
Shi has been with the MBUSA team for the past ten years, serving most recently as a counsel in the legal department. As such, he was responsible for commercial transactions, supervision of litigation, overseeing intellectual property matters and general corporate matters. Previously, as an associate at Riker, Danzig, Scherer, Hyland & Perretti in Morristown, N.J., Shi was responsible for commercial litigation matters.
Shi has been active in diversity activities and organizations and was the recipient of a 2002 National Asian American Corporate Achievement Award from the Organization of Chinese Americans and serves on the Leadership Advisory Council of the National Asian Pacific American Bar Association. Shi is also a past President of the Asian Pacific American Lawyers Association of New Jersey and was selected by the American Council on Germany as an American representative to the annual American-German Young Leaders Conference.
Shi has served on the New Jersey Supreme Court Committee on Character and on the New Jersey Supreme Court Advisory Committee on Bar Admissions. Shi has also served as a member of the Board of Trustees and as the Young Lawyers Committee Chair of the Morris County Bar Association.
Shi received his law degree from Boston College Law School in Boston, Mass. and holds a B.A. degree in behavioral biology from the Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, Md. Born in Taipei, Taiwan, Shi speaks Mandarin, Taiwanese and French. Shi and his family reside in Convent Station, NJ.
