Reed Sorenson Scores First ARCA Win at Michigan
BROOKLYN, Mich., (June 19, 2004)---Reed Sorenson drove his Target Dodge
to Victory Lane Saturday night at Michigan International Speedway.
Sorenson won the Flagstar 200 and finished more than six seconds ahead
of second place.
Sorenson, who won the outside pole, was able to avoid six cautions
during the race to come home first. Sorenson took the lead on the first
lap and was able to keep it for the first 17 of 100 laps. After coming
in for a pit stop during a caution period, Sorenson restarted 16th and
was able to avoid the wreck between CW Smith and Chad McCumbee that red
flagged the race. Sorenson retook the lead on lap 59 and kept it for
the final 41 laps of the race.
"It feels good," said Sorenson. "These crew guys make it a lot easier on
me, because it's such a good car. I haven't won a race in about a year,
so it felt good to get back in victory lane. The Target Dodge was good
all day; it was just a matter of letting things play out."
Sorenson and the Target Dodge will run again in the ARCA Food World 300
in October at Talladega Superspeedway.
