Delphi Appoints New Directors For Human Resources

TROY, Mich., June 21 -- Delphi Corp. announced today the following new appointments within its human resources organization:

* Lynn E. Moody, 51, is named divisional director, human resources, Delphi Product & Service Solutions, in Troy, Mich. She will report to Francisco (Frank) Ordonez, president of Delphi Product and Services Solutions, and will become a member of the division's executive committee. Moody had been personnel director, Delphi Packard Electric, in Warren, Ohio. She replaces Burton J. Valanty, 54, who will become a loaned executive to the United Way of Southeast Michigan.

* Sandra P. Thompkins, 55, currently executive director for Delphi's global compensation, leadership development & organization and employee development (OED), will succeed Moody as divisional director, human resources, reporting to James Spencer, president of Delphi Packard. She also will become a member of the division's global executive committee.

* Debra S. Alexander, 46, currently director, compensation, payroll & systems, will replace Thompkins as executive director and report to Kevin Butler, vice president, human resources management.

All appointments are effective August 1, 2004.

Moody began her career in 1978 as a financial analyst on the General Motors comptroller's staff in Detroit. In 1983, she transferred to GM's New York Treasurer's Office where she held a variety of finance positions and, in 1985, was named GM's director of executive compensation. In 1990, Moody returned to Detroit to become director of classified compensation and, in 1992, was named general director of salaried HR management for Automotive Components Group (now Delphi) in Pontiac, Mich. Following an assignment as personnel director for Delphi's chassis division in Dayton, Ohio, Moody was named to her current assignment in 1998. Moody earned a bachelor's degree in political science and economics from Michigan State University and a master's degree in business administration from the University of Michigan.

Thompkins began her career with General Motors in 1985 as a manufacturing supervisor and later, labor relations representative in Ypsilanti, Mich. She held several human resource assignments with Delphi Packard Electric Systems in Warren, Ohio; Juarez, Mexico; in both salaried personnel and labor relations.

She became director of human resources of General Motors China in both Beijing and Shanghai in 1996 and 1997, respectively. In January 1999, Thompkins was named general director of human resources at Delphi Safety & Interior Systems, a position she held until her current assignment, effective July 1, 2002. Thompkins holds a bachelor's degree in Spanish from Indiana University and a law degree from Thomas M. Cooley Law School. She is a member of the Michigan Bar Association.

Alexander began her career with the General Motors Personnel Administration and Development Staff in 1984. After a variety of assignments in benefits, compensation, labor relations and salaried administration, she was assigned to the GM-Toyota joint venture, NUMMI, in 1993. In 1995, she was appointed director of HRM for GM International Operations and in 1996 was appointed director, salaried personnel administration for Delphi Packard Electric Systems in Warren, Ohio. In 2001, Alexander assumed responsibility for human resources systems, a position she held until appointed to her current assignment in 2003.

Alexander graduated from Purdue University in 1979 with a bachelor's degree in communications and political science. Additionally, she earned a masters degree in management from Purdue in 1984.

Valanty began his career with Delphi in 1999 as director of human resources for the worldwide catalyst operations headquartered in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Prior to his current assignment he was assistant director, Industrial Relations for Delphi Energy & Chassis in Troy, Mich. He also held various human resources assignments at AutoNation Inc., Ryder Systems Inc., Valeo Climate Control Corp., Volkswagen of America Inc. and Ford Motor Company.

Valanty holds a bachelor's degree in political science and a master's degree in international education from Michigan State University. He also earned a law degree, with honors, from the University of Detroit-Mercy. Valanty is a member of the Michigan Bar Association.
