Champ Car Grand Prix of Portland
Round 4 of 16

Michel Jourdain, #9

Qualified 8th Finished 14th

Contact in Turn 1 on the green flag lap of Sunday's Champ Car Grand Prix of Portland made for a tough race.  While the
car did not sustain damage, Jourdain lost a lap to the field while the safety team restarted the Gigante car.  He finished
14th.

Michel Jourdain

"I saw Mario (Dominguez) brake very, very early.  I went on the outside and made the corner.  Then, I got hit
from behind so I don't know exactly what happened.  From there, we continued to struggle.  I had to run full
fuel, had long runs on the tires, I got stuck behind slow cars coming out of the pits.  Everything went wrong."

Carl Russo, Team Owner

"Your heart has to go out to Michel.  Last year he made it to Turn 2 before he got punted off the race track.
This year he made it to Turn 1.  It's just tough; Portland's tough.  There are always incidents in Turn 1 on the
first lap, and this time unfortunately it caught Michel.  We thought they might get him started before he lost a
lap, but he went down a lap.  He drove very well throughout race.  His lap times were good.  He was very
consistent.  But, at the end of the day when you're a lap down, you're a lap down.  This is too tough of a series
to go a lap down and manage to finish well."
