Champ Car Grand Prix of Portland
Round 4 of 16

A.J. Allmendinger, #10

Qualified 5th Finished 6th

Allmendinger's RuSPORT team helped the American rookie reclaim fifth position from Alex Tagliani on his first pit stop of
the race on Lap 32.  Recovering fifth place set up a thrilling race-long battle between Allmendinger and fellow rookie
Justin Wilson for fourth place.  Despite several close attempts, Allmendinger was unable to pass the Brit.  An alternate pit
strategy allowed Patrick Carpentier to finish fourth, followed by Wilson then Allmendinger in sixth place.

A.J. Allmendinger

"We had the fourth best car today.  I got jumped on the start a little bit by (Alex) Tag(liani), but I was able to
pick him off thanks to a great pit stop from my guys.  Justin (Wilson), that guy is tough to pass, but it was
completely fair.  We were way faster, but it's tough to pass here.  He was good enough coming off the straight-
way that I couldn't get a good run on him.  That guy broke so deep.  It was a fun to race him."

Carl Russo, Team Owner

"I think at Milwaukee we benefited from attrition and I think here at Portland we were actually competing up
towards the front of the grid.  AJ and Justin Wilson had a great race, the whole race.  Let's face it, if they built
bigger cars, Justin would still be in Formula 1.  They went at it hard, went really fast and made good decisions,
so I'm very encouraged for the team."
