Jourdain's Eighth Puts RuSPORT Teammates in Portland Top
10
Champ Car Grand Prix of Portland
Round 4 of 16
Michel Jourdain, #9
Qualified 8th 59.900/118.337 mph
Veteran driver Michel Jourdain Jr.'s piloted his #9 Gigante machine to an eighth place start position for Sunday's Champ
Car Grand Prix of Portland, and his best qualifying effort of the season with the RuSPORT squad. Newcomers
RuSPORT have both entries in the top-10 with rookie teammate AJ Allmendinger starting fifth.
When Jourdain takes the green flag Sunday it will mark his 142nd career Champ Car start tying Arie Luyendyk for 15th on
the Most Starts list.
Michel Jourdain
"The red flag possibly cost me a couple of spots because I ran exactly the same time as (Alex)Tag(liani) did
yesterday, but the one who does it first starts in the front. I think we could have gone a little quicker and been
closer to Mario. The good thing is we're making improvements on the Gigante car. The team has two cars in
the top-10 for the first time, so we just need to focus on having good race cars for tomorrow."
Jeremy Dale, Team President
"Michel's eighth place starting position is a nice gain over yesterday. The gain is bigger than it looks on the
grid because the car is better. It's not where they want it yet, but it's much more drivable. Unfortunately, I
think we lost one or two positions to the red flag, but that's just the way it goes; it's the game that gets played.
I think both the guys are feeling quite confident for the race."
