ENGLISHTOWN, N.J. (June 19, 2004) - Gary Scelzi posted his best run of the
weekend today in the final qualifying session for the K&N Filters
Supernationals, a 4.926/307.72, which was the quickest pass of that round.
This effort moved him into the No. 6 position for Sunday's eliminations, in
which he'll face Jerry Toliver in the first round.
"We're 4 for 4," said Scelzi, who completed four solid runs this weekend in
his HEMI-powered Oakley Dodge Stratus. "We're pretty pleased...again. We're
doing a lot like we did in Columbus (where he reached the final round).
We're going down the race track. It's coming up with the numbers that Mike
(Neff, crew chief) wants to show.
"That was low E.T. for the round. Conditions are only going to get better
tomorrow, supposedly, but, if not, we're ready for them. It's easy to step
it up but it's hard to slow it down when the race track gets bad. And we
made it down every time.
"I feel pretty good about my chances. I've never had a victory here and it's
a little soon to be looking at that. But I feel real good about it."
