Sahlenk Six Haurs of the Glen
In DoranmLista D O M N JW Lexus
WATKINS GLEN, N.Y., June 19 - Denmark's Jan Magnussen qualified sev-
enth in class and overall in the Doran-Lista DORAN JE4 k x u s #27 Saturday afternoon
at Watkins Glen International far fornorrow's Sahlen's Six Hours of the Glen Rolex
series race.
He will share the car in tomorrow's race with Didier Theys of Scottsdale, Ariz.
and F redy Lienhard 3. of Niederteufen, Switzerland.
His third of seven laps in the 15-minute qualifying session WBS his fastest, as
he took only 1 :47.268 to complete the 3.4-mile, 11-turn road course at an average
speed of 114.107 mph on that circuit.
The SunTrust Racing Riley Pontiac continued to top the charts like it did in
practice, as Max Angelelli earned the pole with a 1 :43.602 (1 18.1 44 mph).
A DORAN JE4 was second, however, as the G8W MotorsportdRx.com
DORAN BMW of Cort Wagner, Brent Martini and Kelly Collins ran a 1i45.821
(1 15.667 mph).
The other two DORAN JE4s were fifth (Michael Shank Racing DORAN Lexus)
and 16th (Bell Motorsports DORAN Pontiac).
"We need more speed," Magnussen said. "It's not something that we can fix
overnight; it's most likely a combination of things. But it is a long ram; all sorts of
things can happen in the course of six hours. We have had no reliability issues sp far,
80 hopefully we can still do well in the race tomorrow. The Doran-Lis& crew is work-
ing really hard."
"We're just seeing the results of no testing, little practice time and a very corn-
petitive series," said team owner Kevin Doran. "We lost a practice session due to rain
today. The Rolex series is very competitive; one little hiccough and you're tenth. The
days of having a little problem and still running third are over because it's so corn-
peti tive. ''
The race will be broadcast live on SPEED beginning at I1 a.m. tomorrow.
