XM Satellite Radio Driver Bryan Herta Second in Final
Practice
Ft. Worth , Texas (June 11, 2004) -.XM Satellite Radio driver Bryan
Herta was the second fastest driver at Texas Motor Speedway today in the final
practice before tomorrow night's Bombardier 500k.
With the benefit of the draft, Herta was able to post a fastest speed of
210.317 miles per hour, nearly one mile per hour faster than his teammate Dario
Franchitti's pole winning speed from last night. Herta was able to do this
because the cars were running in a big pack to simulate the conditions they will
see during the race.
The XM Satellite crew worked hard through the afternoon to fine-tune the
car's setup and will take what they learned to make the Honda-powered Dallara
even quicker for tomorrow night's race.
Sam Hornish was fastest in today's practice with a lap at 211.331 miles
per hour. Herta was second ahead of his Andretti Green Racing teammate,
Team 7-Eleven driver Tony Kanaan, who posted a lap at 210.209 miles per hour.
The Bombardier 500k, Round 5 of the IndyCar Series schedule, will start
tomorrow at 8 p.m. (EDT). The 200-lap event will air live on ESPN.
Bryan Herta, Driver, #7 XM Satellite Radio Dallara/Honda/Firestone
"We struggled a little bit in the first practice today. The XM Satellite Radio
car was good, but it wasn't where we needed to be. I think we found a lot in the
final practice. I'm very happy with how the car feels. We need to just make sure
we can stay up front and be in the right spot at the finish."
George Klotz, Team Manager, #7 XM Satellite Radio Dallara/Honda/Firestone
"Today shows you something about the XM Satellite Radio team. We had
a pretty good car this morning and we still worked hard to improve it for the
afternoon. Bryan is doing a great job in giving us the feedback we need to make
the car fast and contend for a win."
