School Bus Races At SSP Postponed Until Sunday
NEWBERRYTOWN, PA (June 10, 2004) – Thursday night racing at SSP has been
postponed until Sunday, June 13 due to rain. The evening will feature The Great
American School Bus Race along with the 410 Sprint Cars and the Xtreme
Enduro Stock Cars. With more than 15 entries for The Great American School Bus
Race and more expected, this will be one of the most exciting racing events of
the year. As a special treat for the fans, there will be complimentary
school bus rides around the track from 5:45 p.m. to 6:15 p.m. Fans are
encouraged to arrive early and have some fun at SSP.
Also new to the speedway this week will be the 410 Sprint Car of Cory Haas.
Haas, a standout in 358 Sprint Cars will debut his new car and make SSP a
weekly stop. Bobby Howard has indicated that he has a new 410 Sprint Car that
he will be debuting soon as well.
After the qualifying events, a limited number of couples will be invited to
the frontstretch for a Water Balloon Toss contest. Couples will be lines up
facing each other and toss a water balloon between back and forth. After
each toss, one partner will take a step backward until the balloon is dropped
or pops. The last couple remaining will receive 2 Adult Speedweek tickets to
the July 1st event at SSP.
Gates open in the pit area at 4:00 p.m. with the grandstand gates opening
at 5:00 p.m. Warmups begin at 6:30 p.m. with racing action beginning at
7:30 p.m. Race fans can expect a fast paced 2 ½ hour program each and every
night (and as coined by a local reporter "Done by 10."). Grandstand ticket
prices are Adults (18 & older) $12.00; Teens (13-17) $8.00; Children (6-12)
$4.00; and Children (5 & under) are free. Pit pass prices have been reduced to
$20.00 with a reduced price of $18.00 for all track license holders. A
track license is $25.00 for the year.
The Susquehanna Speedway Park is located off I-83 to exit 32, then 1.4 miles
