Heinricy To Drive Cadillac CTS-V Race Car At Mid-Ohio

Factory Program Will Expand To Three Cars For Round 3 Of Speed GT

DETROIT - The General Motors' Cadillac CTS-V racing team will field a third car for Round 3 of the SCCA Speed World Challenge GT at the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course on June 27. GM Performance Division Director John Heinricy, an experienced race car driver and engineer, will drive the #12 CTS-V race car in the event, joining fellow racers Max Angelelli and Andy Pilgrim on Team Cadillac. In his dual role as engineer and race car driver, Heinricy was responsible for developing both the production Cadillac CTS-V and CTS-V race car.

"John Heinricy is well known in road racing circles and with high-performance automotive enthusiasts, and is a great choice to be our third driver at Mid-Ohio," said Mark LaNeve, general manager of Cadillac. "John's experience and his role in the development CTS-V race car will be an asset to our goal of winning the Speed GT Manufacturer's championship."

Heinricy has been very active racing Chevrolet Corvettes, Camaros, and Pontiac Firebirds professionally since 1984 and has won nine driving championships and several team championships. He was a member of the team that broke three world speed records in 1990 driving a Corvette ZR1, and drove one of the factory Corvette C5-R race cars in GT2 competition. Heinricy also has 5 career Speed World Challenge wins (including a win at Mid-Ohio in 1994), 19 top-3 finishes and 48 career starts. He has had extensive time in the Cadillac CTS-V during the team's testing and development period of 2003 and into this year.

My participation in the program, along with others from within Cadillac and the GM Performance Division, truly shows how we're learning to make better street cars via the race track."

Entering the third round of the Speed GT at Mid-Ohio, Team Cadillac is currently tied for first place in the Manufacturers' championship along with Audi. Max Angelelli leads the Drivers' title with 60 points, while his teammate Andy Pilgrim is close behind in third position with 49 points. The team has notched two podium finishes, including Cadillac's first victory since 1949, in two races this season.
