Chrysler Group CPOV Sales Increase 19 Percent for May 2004
AUBURN HILLS, Mich., June 8 -- Chrysler Group reported sales of Certified Pre-Owned Vehicles (CPOV) for May 2004 at 8,466 units, a 19 percent increase over May 20, 200403 sales. Year-to-date sales also posted strong results, increasing 13 percent over 2003 year-to-date sales to 42,338 units.
"Our CPOV sales continue to grow at an impressive rate and we intend to continue providing high-quality, certified used vehicles to customers," said Ray Fisher, Chrysler Group Vice President - Fleet and Remarketing. "We are excited about customer response for our certified used vehicles."
The Dodge brand was the volume leader in CPOV sales with 4,239 units sold during May, an increase of 25 percent compared to May 2003. Dodge Ram pickup posted a sales increase of 65 percent to 903 units. Dodge Grand Caravan posted sales of 814 units, an increase of 20 percent over May 2003 sales.
Chrysler brand sales increased 40 percent to 2,402 units. Chrysler Sebring sales led the way for the brand, posting sales of 678 units, an increase of 41 percent. Chrysler Town & Country sales improved 29 percent compared to May 2003 to 612 units.
Jeep(R) brand sales declined 8 percent to 1,825 units. Jeep Liberty sales surged 162 percent to 330 units. Jeep Wrangler also experienced strong sales, posting an increase of 63 percent compared to previous year results.
Marketed as "Brand Spankin' Used," Chrysler Group Certified Pre-Owned Vehicles are only sold by Chrysler Group dealers who have earned the Five Star certification.
