Delaware Valley Volvo Retailers Honor Local Hero Alexandra Scott With Month-Long Fundraiser
Scott Named One of Nation's Top Heroes in Volvo for Life Awards
PHILADELPHIA, June 7 -- WHAT: Eleven Delaware Valley-area Volvo retailers will hold a fundraiser in honor of Alexandra Scott -- an 8-year-old Wynnewood, Pa. girl with cancer -- with 100 percent of the proceeds benefiting Alex's Lemonade Stand Fund for pediatric cancer research at The Children's Hospital of Philadelphia. Since infancy, Scott has battled neuroblastoma, an aggressive childhood cancer. Four years ago, Scott began holding lemonade stands to raise money for the pediatric cancer center that treats her and other leading pediatric institutions nationwide. Since then, Scott has received national recognition for her inspiring efforts, and "Alex's Lemonade Stand" has raised more than $200,000. This year, Scott will hold her lemonade stand on Sat., June 12. WHEN: Philadelphia-area Volvo retailers will sell raffle tickets now through July 7 for a free two-year lease on a new Volvo S40 2.4i with all proceeds benefiting pediatric cancer research. Raffle tickets are priced at one for $10, three for $25, and six for $50 plus a free copy of Scott's book, "Alex's Amazing Lemonade Stand." Scott will draw the winning ticket for the new Volvo lease on July 8. In addition, during the week of June 7, Philadelphia-area Volvo retailers will open Alex's Lemonade Stands at their dealerships to help raise additional funds for Scott's cause.
