Nissan Europe Reports May Sales
TRAPPES, France, June 7 -- Nissan Europe reported total sales of 47,320 vehicles (1) in May 20, 200404, an increase of 12.7% over the same month last year.
In the five month period from January to May 2004, Nissan Europe sold 232,757 units, 7.4% up from last year.
Highlights by Country
- Nissan in France sold 3,946 units in May, registering a 4% increase compared to last year. In the five month period from January to May 2004, Nissan sold 19,928 units in France, up by 7% compared to last year.
- In Germany, Nissan sold 5,678 units in May, representing a decrease of 5.5% compared to last year. In the five month period from January to May 2004, Nissan sold 23,042 units in Germany, 14.4% down from last year.
- In Italy, Nissan sold 7,516 units in May, up 36.5% against last year. In the five month period from January to May 2004, Nissan sales in Italy rose to 36,494 units, up by 28.2% compared to last year.
- Nissan in Spain sold 6,038 units in May, up 18.3% compared to last year. In the five month period from January to May 2004, Nissan sales in Spain rose to 26,986 units up by 15.8% compared to last year.
- In the UK, Nissan sold 7,188 units, a decrease of 2.4% compared to last year. In the five month period from January to May 2004, Nissan's sales in the UK fell to 44,436 units, down 5% compared to last year.
- In Russia, Nissan sold 2,442 units, an increase of 275.7% compared to last year. In the five month period from January to May 2004, Nissan's sales in Russia rose to 7,039 units, up 110.7% compared to last year
Model Highlights
- The Micra was Nissan's best-selling European model with a total of 15,027 unit sales in May representing an increase of 14.8% against the same month last year. In the five month period from January to May 2004, total Micra sales reached 74,674 units, up by 19% compared to last year.
- X-TRAIL sales increased by 72.3% in May against the same month last year to 5,815 units. In the five month period from January to May 2004, total X-TRAIL sales reached 26,911 units, up by 38.4% compared to last year.
- Pickup sales increased by 57.4% in May against the same month last year to 3,764 units. In the five month period from January to May 2004, total Pickup sales reached 17,879 units, up by 27.2% compared to last year
