Qualifying
Friday, June 4, 2004
The Time Warner Cable Roadrunner 250
Round 3 of 16
A.J. Allmendinger, #10
Qualified 13th 21.352/173.998 mph
A.J. Allmendinger
"It's very difficult for me to get every bit of speed out of the car in a couple of laps on an oval. I'm still tense in
the race car. I just need some more time to get comfortable on the oval and let the car do more of the work for
me. I'd like to have been quicker; I would have liked to show the speed that (teammate) Michel (Jourdain) did.
This is a long race though - 250 laps, four pit stops - so tomorrow I just need to focus on staying out of trouble
and running a clean race to be there at the end. I'm more comfortable with the car at a race pace."
Jeremy Dale, Team President
"I don't think A.J.'s result in qualifying today is indicative of the progress they have made with the car this week
on long runs. I think they're feeling pretty good for the race. Single car qualifying is a difficult process and puts
a lot of pressure on the driver. Tomorrow night is a completely different deal though and I think that A.J. is
pretty comfortable with what he's got for the race."
