Kenseth, Champion Spark Plug-Powered Ford Win NASCAR Nextel All-Star Challenge

SOUTHFIELD, Mich.--June 3, 2004--Reigning NASCAR Nextel Cup champion Matt Kenseth passed Ryan Newman with four laps remaining to win the $1 million top prize in the recent Nextel All-Star Challenge at Lowes Motor Speedway in Concord, N.C. Kenseth's #17 Ford is powered by Champion(R), "The World's Favorite Spark Plug." Champion spark plugs are manufactured and marketed by Federal-Mogul Corporation (OTC Bulletin Board:FDMLQ).

Kenseth's Ford, which already has two points-race wins in 2004, beat Newman to the finish line by approximately five car lengths. Tony Stewart (#20 Chevrolet), Michael Waltrip (#15 Chevrolet) and Dale Earnhardt Jr. (#8 Chevrolet) - each relying on Champion plugs for race-winning power and durability - rounded out the top five.

"Our congratulations go out to Matt. We're very pleased that Champion spark plugs continue to win in every type of engine, on every style of track and in every race format," said Champion Brand Manager Lou Kafantaris.

Earnhardt Jr., Kenseth and Stewart stand first, fourth and fifth, respectively, in 2004 Cup Series points. Other leading Nextel Cup Series drivers who rely on Champion spark plugs are Bobby Labonte (#18 Chevrolet), seventh in Cup points, and Kurt Busch (#97 Ford), in ninth place overall.

The Champion brand's unprecedented success extends beyond NASCAR competition to passenger applications through an exclusive electrode design approach that combines precious-metal conductors with optimized firing-end geometries for exceptional spark focus. Champion plugs also provide exclusive thermal management characteristics that maximize performance under virtually all engine conditions.

The ideal choice for hundreds of popular vehicle makes and models, Champion Double Platinum(TM) spark plugs feature platinum center and ground electrodes matching the specifications of the world's leading vehicle manufacturers. These plugs also incorporate a Fine-Wire center electrode and V-trimmed ground electrode for high spark concentration. Champion's patented Heat-Active(TM) alloy allows its plugs to reach optimal temperature quickly and maintain the ideal heat range under varying loads. The result is a highly focused spark that provides greater power for quicker acceleration and smoother idle.
