AUBURN HILLS, Mich., June 2 -- Volkswagen of America reports 28,072 vehicle deliveries to customers for the month of May, representing a moderate increase when compared to May 2003 sales of 27,941.

The New Beetle convertible, with 2,914 deliveries to customers, enjoyed the strongest sales increase across the entire Volkswagen model line, up 12.2 percent compared to last May.

Total May sales for Volkswagen of America represents growth in the highly incentive-driven U.S. market.
