Nissan to cut weight of all models up to 10%

TOKYO June 1, 2004; Japan Today reported that Nissan Motor Co plans to reduce the weight of its models in the next five years by an average of 5 to 10% in a bid to tap demand for more fuel-efficient vehicles, the Nihon Keizai Shimbun reported Tuesday.

The major Japanese automaker will set up in June a project team that will include divisions such as materials research and parts procurement, the Japanese business daily said. (Kyodo News)
