Bob Maxey Focuses on Growth in Urban Market Through $3 Million Reinvestment in Mack Avenue Dealership

Detroit Mayor Kwame M. Kilpatrick, Lincoln Mercury President Darryl Hazel, Wayne County Executive Robert Ficano Among Others Scheduled to Attend June 2 Gallery Showroom Premiere

DETROIT, May 28 -- The honorable Kwame M. Kilpatrick, Lincoln Mercury President Darryl Hazel, Wayne County Executive Robert Ficano, Detroit City Council members and other political, corporate and civic leaders from the Detroit community are scheduled to attend a Wednesday, June 2 premiere of the Bob Maxey Lincoln Mercury Gallery Showroom located on 16901 Mack Ave. A brief program will begin at 5:30 p.m.

The newly renovated 35,000 square ft. facility represents a $3 million reinvestment in the east side dealership and features a new gallery showroom, expanded service area including a drive-through, car wash, customer parking and increased body shop capacity. Overall, the move is part of the Maxey family's strategy for growth in Detroit's urban market. Additionally, this year the Maxey family opened a Ford dealership on Jefferson Avenue.

"This latest reinvestment in our Mack Avenue dealership and the opening of Bob Maxey Ford on Jefferson Avenue represents a strengthened commitment to our customers and to the city's revitalization efforts."

"Across the country, Lincoln Mercury dealers are preparing for future sales growth by investing millions of dollars to upgrade and expand their facilities," said President Darryl Hazel, Lincoln Mercury. "Bob Maxey Lincoln Mercury represents the 100th dealership in North America to complete the Gallery conversion. By the end of 2004, more than 115 dealers will have adopted the Gallery design in North America for a combined investment of $230 million."

In addition, the Mack Avenue dealership will host a grand re-opening celebration on Thursday, June 3 and Friday, June 4. The all-day event will be open to the public and feature prizes, food and refreshments.

The Bob Maxey family has been serving Metro Detroit since 1972. The first location was located on Gratiot and Houston Whittier in Detroit. The Dealership moved to its present location on Mack and Cadieux in 1982. The Lincoln Mercury store underwent major renovation and expansion in 2003 to better serve our customers. Bob Maxey Ford opened in 2004 and is currently being renovated and expanded.
