TEAM 7-ELEVEN'S KANAAN POLISHES INDIANAPOLIS 500 SETUP ON CARBURETION DAY

SPEEDWAY, Ind. (May 27, 2004) - Team 7-Eleven driver Tony Kanaan used today's
two-hour "Carburetion Day" practice session to make his final plans for Sunday's 88th running of
the Indianapolis 500.
Kanaan, who will start from the middle of row two in the "500," turned a minimal number
of laps on Thursday to make the final checks and final adjustments on the #11 Team 7-Eleven
Honda-powered Dallara in the final practice before Sunday's 200-lap event on the 2.5-mile
Brickyard oval.
Teammates Kosuke Matsuura and Adrian Fernandez led Thursday's two-hour session
with speeds of 219.226 and 218.066 miles per hour, respectively. Scott Dixon was third at
217.391 miles per hour and was followed by Vitor Meira at 217.172. Meira's teammate Roger
Yasukawa rounded out the top-five with a speed of 217.119 miles per hour.
The Indianapolis 500 is slated to begin at 12 p.m. (EDT) Sunday and will be televised
live on ABC Sports.

Tony Kanaan, #11 Team 7-Eleven Dallara/Honda/Firestone:
"It was an easy day today. We just wanted to check the balance, check the car out and
run in some tires. We just wanted to make sure the Team 7-Eleven car was well-balanced. I'm
happy. The car is exactly the same as it was a few days ago. The truth is that today is not the
day to figure out the setup. If you hadn't figured it out up 'til now, you'd be in big trouble."

Eric Cowdin, Race Engineer, #11 Team 7-Eleven Dallara/Honda/Firestone:
"We feel good about where we're at. Everything went according to plan. There were no
surprises for Team 7-Eleven and that is always nice. The balance of the car was as we
expected it to be. We made one little change to dial ourselves in to where we think we need to
be for Sunday. Now, we just need to judge for the race day conditions as far as the downforce
and the gearing, and then it's up to Tony."
