Continuing Education Program Provides Insurers Auto-Related Claims Education
PPG PROSTARS and the CertifiedFirst(TM) Network offer expert advice, training
PITTSBURGH, May 26 -- Continuing Education (CE) for Insurers is a comprehensive training program designed to provide agents and licensed staff with decision-making tools used in the automotive repair industry. While CE credits help agents to meet state licensing requirements, more importantly this program gives them key safety and service tips to pass onto their policyholder. PPG PROSTARS Certified Auto Glass Technicians and the CertifiedFirst(TM) Network of quality-rated auto body repair centers host CE training sessions throughout the year. So agents can receive training locally based on their specific needs and availability.
"Nowhere is continuing education more needed than in the ever-changing industry of auto-related claims, which represents a huge percentage of insurance business," said Al Ferrie, training services manager for PPG Industries. "Auto glass replacement represents the number one comprehensive insurance claim and, according to Collision Repair Industry Insight, 87% of collision repair work is paid for by insurance companies."
The Continuing Education for Insurers program offers several courses, with more in development, including: Auto Glass Replacement, Collision Repair, Loss Control -Windshield Repair, Vehicle Inspection and Ethics in Insurance.
An insurance agent who attended the Vehicle Inspection course conducted by certified instructor Vicki Lancaster, Lancaster Glass, O'Fallon, MO rated her class as excellent and noted, "This was time well spent. I learned many new innovations in vehicle safety, seat belt deployment and airbag technology."
Larry Powers, co-owner, River City Collision in Austin, Texas, had very positive feedback from agents attending his Ethic in Insurance course. In fact, Powers says, "Two agents with a combined 20 years of insurance experience told me this was the best Ethics course they ever attended ... from material content to my presentation style. CE has really helped us to build solid relationships with agents in our area!"
Jeff Blum, director of PPG's Automotive Aftermarket Alliance, including PPG PROSTARS and the CertifiedFirst (TM) Network, said, "The primary objective of this program is to provide the insurer with insightful information that will help protect the safety and continued satisfaction of their policyholders. We're very proud to return to the International Autobody Congress & Exposition (NACE) this coming November as the exclusive presenters of Continuing Education courses. This is great industry recognition of our comprehensive training program."
