JDO Experts Work Together to Educate European Community; JDO
2 Is the Hot Topic of Conversation at the JAOO Cannes 2004

CANNES, France, May 26, 2004 -- As the Java Data Objects
(JDO) 2 specification nears its first public review, a
number of JDO experts gave presentations at JAOO Cannes 2004
this week. The Java Data Objects (JDO) API is a standard
interface-based Java model abstraction of persistence,
developed through the Java Community Process.

The presentations included an overview of the various Java
persistence frameworks and how JDO fits in, and a discussion
of JDO's role in the enterprise.

"With approximately 25 implementations of the JDO
specification, JDO adoption is strong and successful," said
Craig Russell, specification lead for JDO. "The JAOO event
was successful in bringing many of the data access experts
together, educating European developers and managers."

"JDO 2 is an exciting evolution of the JDO specification,
and we are happy that we are able to bring a great group of
JDO experts together for the European audience at JAOO
Cannes," said EOS partner Kresten Thorup.

"JDO provides choice," said Patrick Linskey, SolarMetric's

with an application server, in a servlet, or with standalone
applications or applets."

"JDO is now a widely adopted standard with mature

relational databases access is well-defined in JDO 2, the

Enterprise Information Access that includes support for
Legacy Data on Mainframes or Data Exchange through Web
Services."
