Tim Leuliette Speaks at Global Engineering Congress
BARCELONA, Spain, May 24 -- Metaldyne Chairman, President and CEO Tim Leuliette kicked off the opening session of FISITA World Automotive Congress in Barcelona, Spain, today, speaking on the important balance between technology and economics.
"I believe that the greatest challenge the industry faces in the years ahead is balancing the ability to produce new technologies with the ability of a global customer base to afford them," said Leuliette. "Economics is as integral to technology as science is.
"We don't just use technology and we don't just create technology. We also inspire it. When we gather at these sessions, we celebrate the excitement of the product, but not always the attractiveness of our industry to the financial markets.
"Product technology will capture magazine covers and kudos from our peers, but process technology will not only allow us to survive in the changing economic turmoil, it will allow us to thrive in it."
Metaldyne is also presenting two technologies at the FISITA Congress Technical Sessions. The presentations focus on independent rear suspension and brake pulsation. "Metaldyne's process to reduce brake pulsation is a good example of how the company has leveraged process technology to reduce cost and improve quality for our customers," said Mike Martyniak, manager, Chassis Product Development, Metaldyne. "Metaldyne adds value to its customers' chassis and suspension programs by using these advanced processes to manufacture mini corner modules."
