Shane Lewis Has Wild Canadian Ride
MONT-TREMBLANT, Quebec, Canada, May 23, 2004 - Shane Lewis and the No. 7
PAP-Parts/ Southard Motorsports BMW-FABCAR Daytona Prototype fought
through a difficult weekend here at the beautiful Circuit du
Mont-Tremblant. Despite a stunning effort by the Jupiter, Fla. resident
in today's Grand American Rolex Sports Car Series' Six Heures du
Mont-Tremblant, the entry would be retired 15th place in class after a
rear suspension rocker arm broke on the left side of the car after 126
laps. The failure occurred while Lewis was at full speed cresting a hill
over halfway through the six hour event. Lewis and the
PAP-Parts-AutoAssets team will race next at Watkins Glen International
where they roll the No. 7 out for another six hour event on June 20.
Shane Lewis: "I really like this track but it didn't like us today. We
had a really wild ride there when the left rear rocker arm snapped going
over the crest of the hill. And while I want to thank the crew for
making me out a hero for bringing the car back in one piece, truth is I
was just holding on. There for a second I thought for sure I was going
to end-up bear chow in the woods. The PAP-Parts/ AutoAssets crew did a
great job all weekend but we just never got to where we needed to be.
The BMW ran well but these big tracks just aren't very good right now
for us."
