Ryan Dalziel Fastest in Second-Round Toyota Atlantic Practice at Monterrey

MONTERREY, Mexico (May 22, 2004) ‹ Ryan Dalziel continued his assault on the
Toyota Atlantic Championship Presented by Yokohama speed charts at the
Tecate/Telmex Monterrey Grand Prix by setting the fastest time in
second-round practice for Sundayıs race Saturday morning at Fundidora Park.
Dalziel, driving the No. 28 Pro-Works car, recorded a one-minute,
25.788-second lap (88.292 miles per hour) late in the session at the
2.104-mile permanent road course. The fast lap was Dalzielıs third in a row
this weekend, as he topped both first-round practice and the first
qualifying session yesterday.

³We tried something a little bit different this morning,² said Dalziel. ³We
tried not to lose ourselves too much to the track conditions and just worked
on the car for qualifying. We came out on top. We have a little bit of work
to do for the car for qualifying, but weıre happy with the session.²

Jon Fogarty (No. 96 Pacific Coast Motorsports) was second fastest, turning
in a 1:26.464-minute lap at 87.602 mph.

³Iım happy,² said Fogarty. ³We were able to get out there after that final
red flag and put a lap in. That gave us a feel for the changes we had made.
The car felt good. Certainly, we have a long way to go, but Iım happy with
the session. It began misting a little bit halfway through the session,
which kind of threw us off. Hopefully, weıll have a chance at the pole.²

Bryan Sellers (No. 19 Lynx Racing) was third quickest (1:26.529 87.536 mph).

³We made some big changes last night and I think weıve made a step in the
right direction,² said Sellers. ³Hopefully, we can improve on this for
qualifying. The guys are working really hard. When I was sitting on pit lane
I could see the mist, but it really didnıt make much of a difference on the
track.²

Danica Patrick (No. 24 Argent Mortgage Company) and BG Products Rookie of
the Year contender Andrew Ranger (No. 27 Tide/Charmin/Mr. Clean/Snugabye)
rounded out the top five.
