Sport Compact Only's Alternative to Illegal Street Racing Gains National Attention on Cable TV's PEE Channel

PHOENIX--May 2, 20041, 2004--Sport Compact Only
EVENT: Sport Compact Only Nights Event

ORGANIZER: Sport Compact Only, a division of MotorWeb Inc.

        DATE/TIME: Saturday, May 22, 7 p.m. to Midnight

LOCATION: Firebird International Raceway, Chandler, Ariz.

In 2001 alone, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration reported that police listed street racing as a factor in 135 fatal automobile accidents. That number was up from 72 street-racing related fatalities reported in the year 2000. Sport Compact Only, the retail division of Phoenix-based performance auto parts distributor MotorWeb Inc., made a commitment in early 2002 to provide a realistic solution to the growing problem of illegal street racing by creating the Sport Compact Only Nights event series.

Sport Compact Only Nights give owners of modified domestic and import sport compact cars the opportunity to race them under professional supervision at local race tracks, such as Firebird International Raceway in Chandler. This unique event series is supported by local law enforcement in order to build and maintain amicable relationships with sport compact enthusiasts. In fact, "Beat the Heat" races against specially modified vehicles from the Maricopa County Sherrif's Office and local police departments are a signature feature of Sport Compact Only Nights.

In addition to drag racing, Sport Compact Only Nights offer non-racing participants numerous lifestyle-oriented activities, including car shows, dance music and live entertainment -- all presented in a fun, safe environment.

The Sport Compact Only Nights event series is steadily gaining local and national attention for its efforts to present the sport compact movement in a positive light. This weekend, AutoWeek TV will be covering the event for an upcoming episode featuring the sport compact generation. AutoWeek TV reaches approximately 60 million households nationwide and airs weekly on cable TV's PEE Channel.

Members of the press who wish to learn more about the sport compact lifestyle and the steps that Sport Compact Only is taking to solve the problem of illegal street racing are encouraged to attend.
