MARK SMITH GETS FIRST SSP 410 SPRINT WIN, JOHNS TOPS ENDUROS, FELTY AND
BRYMESSER VINTAGE WINNERS

NEWBERRYTOWN, PA (May 20, 2004) – Mark Smith raced to his first career
Susquehanna Speedway Park win in Thursday evening’s 410 Sprint Car feature event.
Meanwhile, Tom Johns became the season’s first repeat Xtreme Enduro winner,
while PennMar Vintage Stock events went to Larry Felty and Willie Brymesser.

Billy Dietrich raced from the pole position into the lead at the start of the
25 lap Sprint Car feature event, and held the top position until sixth
starter Smith took over the top spot on the eighth lap. From that point on Smith
was home free for the $2500 win. The win was the first at SSP for Smith, and
his fifth overall this season.

Last week’s winner Greg Hodnett finished second, with Fred Rahmer coming back
for third after he and Lance Dewease were sent to the rear of the field on
the eighth lap for a restart infraction. Dietrich finished fourth, with Keith
Kauffman, making his first SSP start of the season fifth. Rounding out the top
ten were Dewease, Donnie Kreitz Jr., T J Stutts, Chris Knopp, and Jim Siegel.
Sprint heats went to Eric Stambaugh, Smith and Brian Leppo.

The PennMar Vintage Stocks combined their modified and sportsman classes for
their 12 lap feature event with Larry Felty coming out on top of the modified
battle, while Willie Brymesser won the sportsman class with an overall finish
of sixth. Brymesser also took the sportsman heat, while Tom Martin won the
modified heat.

Tom Johns started from the pole position and led all 20 laps of the Xtreme
Enduro Stock feature, despite heavy late race pressure from Curt Nichols. The
win was Johns’ second of the season and makes him the only repeat winner this
season in the class. Nichols finished second followed by Alan Miller, Mike
Goodwin, and Charlie Pensinger. Pensinger again came from deep in the pack to
double his money. Penisnger has finished in the top five in all four races run
at SSP this season. Heats went to Johns and Matt Wampler, while last week’s
winner David Wilhelm nipped Pensinger to win the Pepsi Challenge dash.

Keith Kauffman picked up $100 for posting the fasted lap among three
challengers in the Rock It Pizza School Bus Challenge. Kauffman’s lap of 44.0 seconds
flat was the second fastest this season and easily bested challengers Billy
Dietrich and Karl Baker.

The next race will be Thursday Night, May 27 as SSP hosts the Trail Motors
360/358 Sprint Car Open Challenge along with the Xtreme Enduro Stocks and
Central PA Legends Cars. Gates open in the pit area at 4:00 p.m. with the grandstand
