Airbiquity Inc.'s aqLink Software Modem Supported on Freescale's mobileGT MPC5200 Embedded Processor
BAINBRIDGE ISLAND, Wash.--May 2, 20041, 2004--Airbiquity(R) Inc., a leading provider of mobile data communications software solutions, today announced the availability of Airbiquity's patented aqLink(R) software modem on the mobileGT(TM) telematics platform from Freescale Semiconductor, a wholly owned subsidiary of Motorola.Telematics providers can "go digital" by implementing Airbiquity's aqLink technology to transport high value information from the automobile to the Telematics Service Provider (TSP) through any cellular network. Whether the content is location data, automatic crash notification, or remote diagnostics, using aqLink provides the widest possible coverage and an efficient means of transporting such data. By integrating aqLink into the telematics platform, customers can reliably transmit critical data through any wireless network (GSM, CDMA, TDMA, iDEN or AMPS) using either an embedded phone module or a Bluetooth enabled handset.
The mobileGT platform, based on the Freescale MPC5200, is the leading automotive telematics platform and is scaleable across a wide range of products including Telematics Control Units and Navigation Systems. This allows manufacturers to leverage a common development approach while providing product differentiation though tailored applications and systems integration.
aqLink is designed for rapid integration into various telematics systems using the Freescale MPC5200 processor, and Airbiquity's aqServer(R) products can easily be integrated into Telematics Service Providers' call centers.
"Airbiquity is excited by the opportunities created by this partnership," said Kamyar Moinzadeh, chief technology officer for Airbiquity. "Freescale's mobileGT is the leading platform of choice for telematics applications and aqLink's availability on this platform will provide value to telematics providers and equipment suppliers serving the automotive market."
"Airbiquity's aqLink is a key technology that can cost effectively deliver critical customer information from the vehicle to the call center," noted Bill Pfaff, vice president and general manager of Freescale's Digital Audio, Radio and Telematics business. "This is an excellent match with our mobileGT telematics technology."
