Airbiquity Announces aqLink over Bluetooth for Telematics and M2M Markets
BAINBRIDGE ISLAND, Wash.--May 2, 20040, 2004--Airbiquity(R) Inc., a leading provider of mobile data communications software solutions, today announced the availability of Airbiquity's patented aqLink(R) software modem over Bluetooth(TM) audio links, opening up new opportunities in the Telematics and M2M markets.Telematics refers to automobile systems that combine Global Positioning System, or GPS, and wireless communications for automatic satellite tracking, roadside assistance and other services. M2M refers to systems that provide communications between machines or people to exchange telemetry, collect data, check status, monitor remotely or any of a host of other services.
By using Bluetooth, Telematics and M2M service providers can design systems that use end-customers' existing Bluetooth-enabled mobile phone and wireless service to transport high-value data. Airbiquity's aqLink technology already provides a proven and efficient means to send high-value information through any wireless network (GSM, CDMA, TDMA, iDEN or AMPS). aqLink operation over Bluetooth audio links will enable data to be sent seamlessly from a data terminal through any existing Bluetooth-enabled mobile phone to service centers or other aqLink devices.
aqLink is designed for rapid integration into various mobile platforms, and Airbiquity's aqServer(TM) products can easily be integrated into service providers' call or data centers.
"The operation of aqLink over Bluetooth will create exciting new opportunities for our technology," said Kamyar Moinzadeh, Chief Technology Officer for Airbiquity. "aqLink over Bluetooth enables the use of Airbiquity's field-proven technology as a robust and a cost-efficient means of transporting critical customer data in the emerging telematics and M2M industries.
